GRAND Central Station – after being hidden for 100 years!

I couldn’t believe it!  I was driving up Madison Avenue and saw this gaping whole in the Manhattan Landscape and discovered a view of Grand Central Station, Chrysler Building and the Hyatt Hotel that nobody has seen since the early 1900’s when 51 East 42nd street was built.

This, and other buildings that made up the entire block, where all demolished by NY landlord SL Green to make way for a new office building called 1 Vanderbilt Avenue.

Given the amount of excavation and underground structural work needed for this building I venture to say you have AT LEAST until the Spring before the new structure will again obscure Grand Central Station.
